The cattle class

Was standing yesterday at a zebra crossing with three cute calves close by. Crossed over to the median in the middle of the road once the traffic thinned on my side and was waiting there to get to the other as the traffic was persistent. I was suddenly nudged at my back and I turned back startled to see that it was one of the calves. All the three were lined up behind me (though there was enough space beside), also doing the road crossing maneuver. One of the calves mooed and it sounded to me as if it was asking me to 'move'. Hopped aside and they crossed the road without a fuss (blocking the oncoming traffic, ha!), with me piggybacking along to the other side.

Couldn't help a chuckle with a disbelieving shake of the head. :-D Street smart, they are, I've to acknowledge!

@Ramesh-:-) Right. I wouldn't have crossed the road for maybe another minute if they hadn't crossed. :-)

Hahha, i remember once my husband said, Once when he went to kalpakkam, there was a cobra standing on the side of the road waiting to cross in its full form. It was in the evening and after recognising it they stopped the vehicle it seems and it crossed peacefully thereafter.:)(Naana irunthaa ore pa pa pambu thaan, driving eh vanthirukkathu)

@chennaigirl-:-) :-) suththi muththi irukkuravanga kal adikkaama uttaangalae, andha paambai paaththu! I also had seen once a long snake cross the road quickly as we were driving. Luckily, we didn't run it over. It was all over in a flash. :-) As your your "pa pa paambu", I can very well imagine it. :-D P'ai azhaichchindu snake park pogaliyaa?

@Matangi-:-D Maybe a coincidence. They seem to be know the road crossing(s) pretty well. :-) The animals have their own mode of communication, I agree, and they manage to convey it quite effectively. :-)

And there was this French girl who was excited having seen cows and buffalos in the local zoo. (I have never been there.). She didnot believe when I said, "In India, we see cows on roads. They live alongside us". Now, maybe, this post will make her believe :D :D.

@RS-:-) The French girl would exclaim 'Vache Sacrée' on seeing this post. :-)
