Nothing but wind

The perpetually nippy weather these days at Bengaluru has floored me down with its manifestations. The first day of work this year has been tagged as a sick leave. I am like what Revathi tells Kamalhassan in 'Thevar Magan', "வெறும் காத்துதாங்க வருது" (only air is coming out) when he asks her to sing a song. Coupled with a nagging bad cold, a severe throat infection has ensured that I can only hiss (gosh! why am I reminded of Mallika Sherawat when I use this word?) or whisper what I want to convey. Any attempt to raise my voice leads to a spurt of coughing and broken words making it unintelligible as the sound of a coconut being rolled in a closed drum.

Avoiding a visit to the doc to resist antibiotics,  Let's see how long I survive this self imposed hibernation.

And the title was just an inspiration from Ilaiyaraaja's old musical album with flautist Hariprasad Chaurasia performing the lovely symphony of wind and the bamboo in the midst of some beautiful orchestration.

Whatever it might be, it is not a nice experience losing your voice, albeit for a short time. :-)

@zeno-என்னா ஒய்! வாரத்துக்கு 1 போஸ்ட் போடறேன், தீயா blog பண்ணுறேன்னு சொல்லறீங்க. :-) No comments further on Mallika. அவங்க ஏதோ பண்ணிட்டு போறாங்க. நமக்கேன் வம்பு. No putting mud on my head. :) No fizz in Hisss, so says the industry. :-) Getting well is happening with hot water drinking therapy. :-) Drinking boiling water regularly in coffee cups to get my voice back. :-)

@gils-ஏன்யா இப்படியா idea சொல்லுவாங்க!!! இருக்கட்டும் இருக்கட்டும். Will award you that blank CD as a gift :-)

@RS-:-( Senora will read the post and this comment as well. And I'll get an earful. :-| I have cold and cough, mild headache, sore throat, mild fever, body ache and maybe who knows, I may even have a blocked ear. :-) Cha Cha. Karagaattakkaaranla Senthil, Goundamanikitta dabbaa car owner paththi kaettaa maadhiri kaettutteenga! :-( Grrrr, enna paaththu yaenga indha questionai kaetteenga!

@Swaram-Hope so. Thanks. :-D See, a passing reference to Ms.M could land me in hot water (hopefully not my hot water drinking therapy)

@Ramesh-And that's it. No food for me. :-(

@chennaigirl-Almost okay now, with random bouts of coughing.

Aanaalum naan unga alavukku illai. You are an expert in bringing random references from movies or moviefolk. :-)

:-) now.. that's a coincident... right now- i am sick at home, with a fever.. but "working from home" :( much to my displeasure!

I enjoy having a fever.. esp. the part where i get "my food being served at my "sick-bed" " part! but losing the voice is an entirely different issue! :( esp. for a person like me who can't sit with her mouth shut for half-a-minute...

all that I can say- look for a silver lining... :) your "hissing" reminds you of a certain Ms. Sherawat did you say?! :P .. hmm.. i dont know if u can call that a silver-lining though!? can u? ..

"Get well soon"! :)

I think I am well, and therefore I am. :-)

I am bang opposite. No conversation is my idea of conversation. :-) The diagnosis is that if I blabber more than what I do usually, then I have a fever. :)

Ayyayyo. Ms. Sherawat graced the walls near my home with her Hisss (note the right spelling) posters and that was what led to a total recall of her. I don't know if it is a silver lining, but if I say to the littlest extent it was, I am sure to get whacked for that. :)
