Hooray! that Ilaiyaraaja has been awarded, at last, with a Padma Bhushan by the Government of India on this Republic day. I hope that the tribe of musical geniuses increase and so does Ilaiyaraaja's contribution to Indian film music. My sincere thanks to him, who, by being a large part of what I hear in film music, is a part of my life and for the memories that I associate to his wonderful music. And congrats to all those who richly deserved an appreciation for the work done by them in their respective spheres. |
A lot of past, some present and maybe a trace of the future.

@gils - Oh! that is a good idea. Congrats Swaram, if there was an award like that or we'll constitute one and give it to you for your happy and wonderful posts.
Atlast they gave him this! Am a big of raja! And cheers swaram for getting BLOG RATNA :D
Oh he got it this year ? Truly deserved. He revolutionised Tamil film music starting from the 70s and like you, I've grown up listening to his songs too.
Actually i think, ARR kudukka decide pannathaala, IR kkum kudukkalaame nnu thoni kuduthaa maathiri irukku. IMO, he has a undisputable place in peoples heart, and athuthaan best award...
Anyway, better late than never....
@Ramesh - Welcome. Some of my best memories are associated with some of his music.
@chennai girl - True what you say.
@Shruti-Hopefully there isn't politicking on this. Otherwise, the meaning of appreciation is gone.
