Rain-swept silence

The summer rain pours in torrents,
Drowning the worldly noise.
Making the most of its time,
Washing the world of its grime.

The leaves and the ground are fresh,
With all the dust finely swept.
And then embraces a silence,
As the rain stops to a close.

Only a few drips and drops you hear,
Before a time of deep calm,
You just watch, bewitched,
With your memories blank.

Then the chirps start to sound,
Along with it the tweets of the birds.
And moments later, the worldly noise engulfs,
And with it, your inner voice as well.

Those few wisps of silence,
Where the time stood still,
The frozen thoughts shall wait -
Till the rain again casts its spell right.

This is partly experiential. Have you ever observed clouds passing by lying on an easy-chair or the short silence that follows a heavy rain? Watching the clouds flow by, lulls you into a state which is really an experience. You live, in the moment, for the moment and to the moment.

Thanks Sri. Some things are better experienced and this is one of them. I used to do so during my college days and I used to be more of a loner with a very small circle of friends.

Oh! Yeah! Such moments of staring in to the oblivion..I totally understand what it means!

Welcome to a coherent wavelength Uttara. Some call it day dreaming. I can always 'sophisticate' that phrase by saying I am contemplating, weighing things, clinical analysis etc., but nothing beats the phrase 'I am just enjoying it in that moment'.

Nostalgic! It reminded me about my hometown Ooty. Have you ever had a stroll after rain? You rediscover nature. A camera would a true companion then.

Welcome CriA'TVT'. The picture at the top is from Ooty, Pykara lake to be precise, taken during a trip around 3 months back. We were welcomed into Ooty with heavy showers and then came the moody sunshine. Lovely it was, walking around, savouring the fresh air after the rains.

That is the essence of my place :)

@CriATVT - Something wrong in your blog w.r.t. commenting. Doesn't allow one to comment and there is a 'white list' of commentators you seem to maintain. :-) Tried with 3 different browsers in vain (IE7, Opera 10.10 and Chrome)

Problem fixed. It should work now! Check it out!
