Gifted, she is

I watch the Airtel Super Singer 3 irregularly on Vijay TV. Yesterday and the day before, there was a guest performance by last year's Super Singer Junior winner, Alka Ajith. What a voice! Could blow the current Airtel Super Singer 3 competitors away, by a mile. She is maybe around 15 years of age and already a playback singer in Malayalam and hear her sing 'Chiragengu' from the yet to be released movie 'The Train'. Lovely and gooseflesh inducing rendition! She sang that song day before on the show and 'Thohda Thohda Malarndhadhenna' from the movie 'Indira' and a snippet of 'Udhaya Udhaya Virumbugiraen' from the movie 'Udhaya' yesterday. Mindblowingly silken voice!

God (or Nature) gifts some with extraordinary capability and Alka is one such gifted person. It is so soothing to hear her and the clarity and range in her voice are astounding.

May she be blessed always and this child is one who will definitely scale heights. Thanks Alka for those moments of divinity on hearing you sing.

I learnt of this girl from an earlier post of yours. Truly gifted and reminds me of the way Sunidhi Chauhan rose in Hindi music.

Both these songs are already soothing to hear. Will listen to her rendering (which will be telecasted only next week here) and come back to comment....

BTW, Did you notice that most of these gifted S. Indian voices are from Kerala vonly? KSC, Jensi, our own Jesudoss, Swarnalatha etc.. to name a few....

Well put. There is no doubt she is gifted. I too saw it live and was just mesmerized.

She has amazing breath control and range, both put her very high compared to many others. With a professional learning, she is absolutely on the right track.

I too wish her to see scale heights. She reminds me of Chitra's voice, when she came in.

Good times.

@Ramesh-She is truly gifted and can sing almost any song/genre with few exceptions.

@RS-The Malayalam song 'Chiragengu' is already linked. The other songs are soft ones and she did full justice to them.

I think the Kerala angle is there because there is sufficient talent and drive in the people there and the competition is fierce. There was a Super Singer equivalent coming in one of the Malayalam channels which my parents used to see and the talent was amazing. :-)

You'll like her singing and for her age, she is a whiz.

@Venkat-Thanks. I think her voice will mature further as it goes along and she seems to be on the right path. She has very good 'kaelvi gnanam' as well as she can latch on to a song very fast and repeat it.

@Swaaram-:-) Surprised that you have heard that vintage ARR song. :-) Lovely one, it is. You can do a YT search for Alka Ajith and there are tons of recorded snippets from Airtel Super Singer there. Definitely a gifted girl.

an oppose to what my other half thinks, that she has won because she is malayalee and so much malayalam influence is there on vijay tv , blah blah blah, I love this girls voice and I truely believe she is genius. U should also check out Priyanka from the same season.

@Matangi-She competed in Malayalam shows before this. I don't think she will be in any singing competitions now. She can bulldoze 99% of the contestants.

@Srivats-I have to concede that your other (better?) half is true to an extent. (Hey Congratulations!!!) I did note that in my earlier post on that (hyperlinked above as well). Priyanka was awesome as she progressed towards the finals. She/SriNisha were probably the ones who could have given some very tough competition to Alka.

@gils-:-) She set the stage ablaze in that song. Definitely புல்லரிக்க வைக்கிற rendition and an awesome song selected to sing. After that song, it was a foregone conclusion that she'll win. :-)

@R-ambam-kaelunga kaelunga, appuram comment pohdunga pohdunga. :D

Alka Ajith knows classical notes very well!!!! Her family itself being a musical family she learnt carnatic music from her dad 1st and then from another master... Now she proceeds with a different master... She said it a Vijay TV show Koffee with Anu!!!!
